THE HUMAN ODYSSEY
From the sand of the beaches to the dust of the moon
The Human Odyssey is the natural evolution of my work, a journey that began in the underground arteries of the Montreal Metro. After years of documenting life in the subterranean shadows of the city, my lens has turned upward, shifting from the belly of the earth to the blinding light of space exploration.
This project is not a technical study of aerospace or a mere documentation of machinery.
It is a humanistic exploration of our reach. While traditional photography often focuses on the rocket itself, I seek to capture the human spirit that fuels the ascent.
The vision is centered on the concept of Looking Up. It is about the collective hope found in the silence of a crowd, where thousands of faces are turned toward the sky in a moment of shared communion. It is about the striking contrast of human scale versus the machine, exploring the poetic confrontation between our fragile physical presence and the monumental scale of these 100-meter-tall vessels.
It is not merely four astronauts journeying to the Moon, but humanity itself.
As a Hasselblad photographer, this work becomes a bridge, from the sandy shores of Earth to the dust of the Moon. It is not about reaching space, but about understanding what drives us to look beyond our own horizon. The Human Odyssey is the visual record of a species that, after mastering the depths, now turns its gaze toward the infinite.
